IMD OWPに参加して（２） 日記編
ここでは、参加中に毎日Facebookにアップしていたものを再編して記録として残します。当日の感動と興奮をそのまま残させていただきます。自己満足のために。(笑)
（初日） IMD Orchestrating Wining Performance program初日。55ヵ国からのExecutive約350名が一緒に議論する一週間です。初日から学びも多く、何より、とても楽しめているのですが、久々にCondenseのお勉強(朝7:30から夜7:30まで12時間＋Dinner)で、金曜日まで持つか少々不安です。
私の選択した午前中の2.5時間、 “Winning Through Talent”は4人ｘ7グループの28人でワークショップ中心のクラス。28人で18ヵ国というインターナショナルな事実に驚きました。午後のクラス“Creating a Winning High Performance Culture”は、100名程度の講義中心のクラスですが、どちらも、基本から色々な国での事例を用いた議論とかなり内容が濃くなりそうで楽しみです。
私の今日の学びのreflectionをいくつか共有します。
“Business sustains only in Business Friendly environment”
“Build constructive conflict on ideas, not conflict in person”
“Culture does not live in an abstract organizational context” – build culture first, before forming organization
“Culture lives and comes alive in our immediate environment”
（２日目） Another enjoyable condensed fulfilled day at IMD, has closed with a wonderful and thought-provoking presentation from Lise Kingo, CEO & Executive Director of UN Global Compact. I received her message to think what’s right, to think global and to think a step ahead all the time, anytime.
眠い朝7:30からのMBAコースのメンバーとのコラボは、色々と学びがありました。２つのグループが同じくThe Impact of Automation on BusinessというテーマでOptimist’s ViewとPessimist’s Viewに分かれて調査結果をまとめ、ディベートするのではなく、我々Executive Programで参加しているメンバーに対しプレゼンし、我々から質疑を行うというもの。これは、この方法論も面白いと思ったし、オーディエンスとして参加することで、何が説得力の源泉になるのかもとても勉強になったように思います。やっぱり、Visual大事ですね。
また、今日はクラスの合間でビジネス書のベストセラーThe First 90daysの著者(自分の本はMichael Porterより売れてるんだぞ！って笑っておられました)、Prof. Michael Watkinsとも有意義なミーティングを持つことができ、とても充実した一日でした。
しかし、それにしても、ここのGlobal度合いには驚かされます！毎日色々な国の話が聞けてそれだけでも楽しいです。しかし、Republic of Kosovoの友人ができるとは思ってもいませんでした！また、現役PwCや元PwCの人に５人も出会うというPwCの素晴らしさも再認識しています。 さ、また明日も朝から頑張りましょう！その前に、予習予習！(笑)
（３日目） Let me tell you again, it’s been another very busy and condensed day, but fulfilling, well learning, with a lot of awareness and it’s been very enjoyable three days. The third day was even more fulfilling of learnings, almost overflowing my brain.
The day started with morning research presentation on change in marketing and consumer wants and inspiring presentation on our food security in the future with amazing research facts like 50% of world total pork and whole milk powder consumption done in China alone!, from MBA project teams.
Then, I had an amazing, shocking, stunned Leadership class, from Prof. Tawfik Jalasse, ex-Tunisian government minister who had led the real change in Tunisia at Arabian Spring. (海外（フランス）で誰もが羨ましく思う家庭も地位も気づいていた大学教授が、35年間離れていた母国のために、命を懸けたという話は言葉で表せません。)
Other take away today were like; 2.5 hour class on “Talent Management is Talent Intelligence” by Prof. Shlomo Ben-Hur was fascinating. “People can change behaviors but they need want to change” Another class in the afternoon, “Building High Performance Mindset” lead by Prof. Robert Hooijerg and Prof. John Weets was a full 2.5 hour case study on culture change at acquisition of Anheuser-Busch by AB InBev. Be PIC; Persistent, Insistent, Consistent. Then I took a class “Presenting with Impact”, how to capture audience in the first 40 seconds. The final keynote speakers’ session was “Performing Under Pressure” presented by neuroscientist and consultant James Hewitt, joined with F1 Champion Mika Hakkinen and Le Mans 24 Champion Allan McNish!
（４日目） On the 4th day at IMD, started again with presentation from MBA students, “Economical Challenges and Political Context in MENA” with real insight from MENA countries, and then “The New Silk Road – from three country perspectives”, presented by Chinese, Pakistanis and Indian, with very good direct debate China-Pakistan relationship against Indian student appealing India-Japan relationship. インド人とパキスタン人が同じチームで発表しているっていうこと自体素晴らしいことだが、中国主導のグローバル開発プランのプロコン対決のようなブレゼンで面白かった。調査プレゼン自体はそれほど深い議論にはなっていなかった感は否めないのですが、中国＋China Money寄るパキスタン他の国vs日本＋インドみたいな構図になっていて、とても新鮮でした。実は、今回、他の授業でも、中国の影響の話は多く出てきました。凄いスピードでアフリカが中国の影響（巨額が入っている）を受けるようになっている話。今までのグローバル化の流れを止めて、中国中心のグローバル化を構築しようとしているのが中国戦略ではないかという話。如何に中国企業が急激に巨大化しているかという話、等々。隣の国の我々が意識・知識共に弱いという反省も感じました。
Then, the class by Prof. Francisco Szekely, ex-Environment Minister of Mexico was another chocking and deep learning class. アメリカのゴミがメキシコの運ばれて、メキシコのゴミのような扱いになって環境最悪の国と言われていることすら考えたことがなく反省。
Morning course ended with 2.5 hour class of “Making Generational Difference Work”. 今日明日の2日間でミレニアルと次世代Zの変化、特徴と彼ら彼女らとの付き合い方をじっくりと学びます。今日の時点で、既に、強烈にショックを受けましたが、やっぱり変わっているのですね。
In the afternoon, “Leadership Perspective with Four Different Levels” by Prof. Robert Hooijbergでは、ガッツリTransformationのLeadershipを勉強しました。色々学びましたが、最後はやっぱり、“People don’t follow content! It’s Pasion and Emotion”、「本気にならないと何も変わらない！」ってことですね！
４日目最後の授業は、IMDの調査をベースにした“The World Economy in 2017” by Prof. Arturo Brisでした。There were a lot of surprised and survey results taught me a lot. It was fun to listen to his theory of “Technologies do not make more productive”. 日本の「プレミアム・フライデー」が半分ギャグにされて登場しました。（涙）；
そして、最後の夜は、Dinner at Olympic Museum was a lot of fun talking to all those students and faculties from all over the world !!
（５日目） On this day, the Third anniversary of HR Fabula and xx anniversary of Shinya Yamamoto (it is my birthday), Enjoyed the final day at IMD. It was very condensed and enjoyable five days at in Lausanne. うまく言葉にできませんが、楽しく、厳しく、驚き、感動し、とにかく気付きと学び、考えさせられることの多かった5日間でした。朝から夜まで、常に都度異なった文化と価値観を持った人たちと、多様な癖のある英語で議論をし、時には“日本はどうなているのだ！”と責められ(笑)、深い話をしているのに、笑いの絶えない5日間。どうすれば、これに近い環境を日本に作れるのか、、、やっぱりこれが、“Make Japan Great Again“の鍵だと強く思いました。I must say it was definitely one of the best week I have ever had, fun, enjoyable, fulfilled one week. 高津さん（IMD日本代表）、ありがとうございました！
何がそんなに凄いのか、楽しいのか。とにかく多国籍多様な人たちの集まりであったこと。55ヵ国から、大手企業の役員、自分で会社を立ち上げて成功している起業家、コンサルタント、大学教授と多様な参加者。それに加えて、先生方が多国籍多様で、グローバル大手企業の経営メンバーだった人から、真の国の改革を実践した大臣経験者、実は専門分野では世界トップクラスの権威なのに全くそれを感じさせない、親しみやすい教授陣。そして、全て自分事と結びつけて考えることが求められる授業でしょう。
また、IMDの教授の凄さは、実績だけでなく、それぞれが専門分野でトップクラスの研究者であるにも関わらず、専門分野を教えるのではなく、あらゆる角度からビジネスを語られることでしょう。単なるファイナンスやマーケティングの授業はありません。理論理屈を押し付ける専門馬鹿は皆無です。全ての授業で、全ての教授が、理論と調査事実を背景に、ビジネスや人生の未来を議論し、考える授業をされます。しかもそれが、これ以上ない多様性の中で行われるのです。これが凄い！
そして、最後に、実は私は誕生日をIMD in Lausanne～Genevaで迎えたのですが、OWPプログラム修了式でサプライズのお祝いをしていただきました。プログラムを最初から最後まで支えてくれたIMDスタッフのNicoが何と同じ誕生日で、ケーキが用意され、修了式に皆でHappy Birthdayを歌ったのですが、そこで、学長のProf. Jean-Francois Manzoniが“Coincidentally we have another one who is birthday today. Where are you, Yamamoto-san?!”とスライドに私の名前を出して呼んでいただいたのです。 全くのSurpriseでした。とても記憶に残る最終日になりました。
